Toney is garbage. All he does when pressed is duck his head down, where the only target is the back of his head. So fighters can't hit him because it's an illegal punch.

Toney was the most defensively skilled fighter of his generation - Sorry Floyd - and was never hurt in a fight, not until Samuel Peter permanently damaged Toney's inner ear via the rabbit punch in their first fight (That destroyed Toney's equilibrium and his last fights are hard to watch). Toney feared no one. If you want to get a real sense of how brilliant his counter-punching and infighting was, watch the Jirov fight at half speed. That way you'll be able to pick up all the subtle shifts and rolls he makes. At real speed, it seems that he's getting pounded but on slow motion you really notice how few punches actually score on him. And he was deadly accurate.

Shame on James Toney for his disdain of Larry Holmes. James Toney was a great fighter, but somewhat overrated, and not a very good person, obviously.

It was close, but Peter eked it out. Their next one, I don't think Toney won a round. And of course we remember when Rahman boxed the turkey stuffing out of Toney and got cheated with a sublimely ridiculous draw! 117-111 for Rahman.

From 19:43 Toney hits Griffin with a beautiful 4 punch combination body & head and the Griffin retaliates with two straight punches that Toney blocks mostly as he moves away towards the ropes and guess what? The commentator says and Griffin gets the better of that exchange. I believe Toney was so fast and accurate that most of his moves were missed in there.
